Mykita's first eyewear boutique in LA

Summer's end may be upon us, but LA's perpetually sunny skies require fashionable frames regardless of the season. Angelenos will soon score futuristic-cool eyewear from its sister city of Berlin when Mykita opens its first west coast outpost in Downtown this coming Tuesday.

Landing in the historic Eastern Columbia building at 9th and Broadway, the 1,635-square-foot boutique (Mykita's 12th store in the world and second in the U.S.) will boast terrazzo flooring, sleek wood paneling, concrete columns, and rubber-coated seating. In addition, the shop will house its own lab for filling optical prescriptions and fitting lenses.

On the all-white industrial shelving, eyewear aficionados will find the German accessory brand's optical and sunglass collections, plus its collaborations with Maison Margiela, Damir Doma, and Bernhard Willhelm. The shop will also offer a limited-edition frame for LA shoppers: a round acetate aviator style with a stainless steel sunglass clip-on, available in black or gold.

Mykita will be open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm and Sunday from 12 to 6pm.
